What Happened to Yuzu?
In March 2024, Nintendo of America filed a lawsuit against Tropic Haze LLC, the developer of Yuzu Emulator. Nintendo claimed that Yuzu was enabling piracy by allowing users to play Switch games without owning the actual console or games. The main concern was that more than a million” illegal downloads of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were played before its official launch. To close this legal case, Tropic Haze llc agreed to pay $2.4 million, cease all operations of Yuzu, and transfer all assets to Nintendo of America.
